In addition, we strive to make you faster through a more aerodynamic position and a more efficient pedal stroke.
What is a bike fit?
A bike fit is where you have your bike tailored to fit your particular anatomy, physiology and cycling technique. Most commonly, cyclists have done their own bike set up by using the trial and error method. The truth is that a lot of cyclists have managed to adapt to their bikes and equipment they have. Unfortunately, this can lead to cycling related injuries such as knee pain, lower back pain, foot numbness and saddle discomfort to name a few. A bicycle has several contact points which need to be set up correctly to be comfortable and efficient. This is especially important if you are spending several hours riding your bike per week. The result of a bike fit is a comfortable and efficient set up which means that you can focus on what is most important, riding your bike.
What to expect?

You can book your appointment online via our website, or call the clinic if you have questions prior. If you cannot find an appointment time that suits you, please call us or send us an email. We should be able to get you in within 48 hours.
You will start by checking in and filling out an intake form. This will provide us with a clearer picture of your health history, cycling ambition and goals. We will then go through a detailed history where we will be asking questions about your relevant medical history, past injuries, and going through your cycling goals
The examination will entail a series of small assessments from checking your posture, feeling for pressure and swelling, analysing joint motion, as well as orthopaedic and neurological testing.
Your bike will be set up on our indoor trainer. The fitting process will take between 1 and 1.5 hours. You will be pedaling at a low-moderate intensity, and you will be getting on and off the bike a few times. We recommend you bring a snack or energy drink to keep your energy levels up during the whole process.
We will start by looking at your initial set up which will give us an indications on what we need to change to optimise your position. We will then make changes to your saddle position, including fore/aft, saddle height and saddle angle. We will optimise your cleat position, before moving onto your reach and stack. We will also optimise your position to be ergonomic and aerodynamic.
At the end of the fitting process, we will record the measurements of your new bike set up, which we will send to you after the session. These are great to have as a reference if you want to make changes to your bike and/or for your future new bike.
The last thing we will do is to summarise what we have changed and discussed. This is a great time for any additional questions. Payment and private health claims (if applicable) can be done on our eftpos machine in the clinic. You will receive an email after with your measurements and any recommendations we might have.
A bike fit is a dynamic process which means that you might need small adjustments done after a few weeks/months of riding. We encourage you to reach out if you need to make any changes to your set up or if you have purchased new equipment. Our Chiropractic Performance and Performance bike fits comes with a complimentary follow up which is valid for 3 months. You can book this in online for a time that suits you.
